Cairn Terrier
Male  ~  Brindle Coat  ~  9-10 Years Old  ~  Affectionate Personality Stray

Buddy is a sweet and affectionate little guy despite being in such poor shape. He has severe allergies with secondary infections and his little body is covered with sores and crusty scabs.

Buddy was examined by Dr. McGuire at Carrollton Animal Hospital on 9/25/06.

Buddy has diffuse hair loss, pruritis, skin irritation, scabbing and seborrhea.  His skin has a strong yeasty odor.

Buddy's eyes have mucopurulent discharge and dry corneas as a result of KCS (dry eye). His ears are infected and full of thick, crusty exudate. His teeth are also in poor condition, he has severe dental tartar, his incisors are worn down and he has a broken canine tooth.

Tests: Total Body Function (Blood Panel): Results are all within the normal range, including thyroid function. Heartworm/EHR/Lyme test: Negative. Skin scrape/analysis: negative for mites.
Medications: ketoconazole 200 mg (skin/yeast infections), optimmune ointment (dry eye), mometamax 15 mg (ear infection), cephalexin 250 mg, and malaseb shampoo.

Buddy will not be available for adoption until his skin has cleared up
and he has a clean bill of health from our vet.
